PRIVACY and COOKIES POLICY

Your privacy is important to LAWYERS.NET, LLC (herein, “the Company”).  The Company operates the LAWYERS.NET℠ website and the LAWYERS.NET℠ authorized social media networking accounts (herein, “the Sites”).  It is the Company’s policy to respect your privacy rights regarding any information that may be collected while operating the Sites.  If you have any questions or concerns about the PRIVACY and COOKIES POLICY or your privacy rights, you may contact the Company by email.

  1. Notice of Monitoring

You are entering one of the Sites, which means you are subject to the Company's TERMS and CONDITIONS that includes the PRIVACY and COOKIES POLICY.  The Company monitors and audits usage of the Sites, and all persons are hereby notified that access to and use of the Sites constitutes consent to monitoring and auditing.  The Company uses cookies and third party ad serving vendors, like Google, who use cookies (see “Cookies” section below).

  1. Website Visitors

If you visit the Sites to read, download, or contribute information, the Company collects, like most website operators, non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request.  The Company’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how the Sites' visitors use the Sites.  From time to time, the Company may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of the Sites.

The Company also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses and email addresses for logged in users and for users who, for example, subscribe to or leave comments on the Sites' blog(s).  The Company only discloses logged in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information as described below, except that blog commenter IP addresses and email addresses are visible and disclosed to the administrators of the blog where the comment was left.

  1. Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information

The Company will not obtain personally-identifying information about you when you visit the Sites unless you specifically and knowingly choose to provide such information.  If a visitor to the Sites identifies himself or herself as being under the age of eighteen (18) years old, the Company will not knowingly collect any personally-identifying information from that person.   If you feel the Company has unknowingly gathered personally-identifying information from someone under the age of eighteen (18) years old, please contact the Company by email immediately so that the information can be removed as soon as possible.

Certain visitors to the Sites choose to interact with the Company in ways that require the Company to gather personally-identifying information, such as responding to email.  The amount and type of information that the Company gathers depends on the nature of the interaction.  For example, the Company may ask a visitor who signs up for access to the Sites' features or blog(s) to provide such information as username and email address.  Those who engage in transactions with the Company – by purchasing access to the Company’s services, for example – are asked to provide additional information, including as necessary the personal and financial information required to process those transactions.   In each case, the Company collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with the Company.

The Company does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.  Visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain activities related to the Sites.  If you have questions about deleting or correcting your personally-identifying information please contact the Company by email.

  1. Aggregated Statistics

The Company uses Google Analytics tracking on Google products and services where applicable such as on the LAWYERS.NET℠ website, our Google+ Page(s), our YouTube Channel(s), our Blog(s) with Blogger, and our Google Gmail accounts, etc. to generate aggregate summary data about visits to the Sites.  Visit the Google Analytics Privacy page for more detailed information.  The Company uses the data, for example, to monitor the most popular aspects of the Sites and to identify system performance or problem areas.  The Company may display this information publicly or provide it to others.  However, the Company does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.  Please also refer to Google’s website for more information about Google Policies & Principles including Google Privacy Policy.  To opt-out of analytics, Google offers a Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-On.

  1. Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information

The Company discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to those of its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on the Company’s behalf or to provide services available at the Sites, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others.  Some of those employees, contractors and affiliated organizations may be located outside of your home country; by using the Sites, you consent to the transfer of such information to them.

The Company will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone.  Other than to its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations, as described above, the Company discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only in response to a subpoena, court order or other governmental request, or when the Company believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of the Company, third parties or the public at large.

If you are a registered user of the Sites and have supplied your email address, the Company may occasionally send you an email to tell you about new features, solicit your feedback, or just keep you up to date with what’s going on with the Sites and with the Company’s products and services.  The Company primarily uses appropriate sections of the Sites to communicate this type of information, so the Company expects to keep this type of email to a minimum.

If you send the Company a request (for example via a support email or via one of the Sites' feedback mechanisms), the Company reserves the right to publish it in order to help the Company clarify or respond to your request or to help the Company support other users.  The Company takes all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.

  1. COOKIES

A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns.  The Company uses cookies on the Sites to help identify and track visitors, visitors' usage of the Sites, and visitors' access preferences regarding the Sites.  Visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before using the Sites, with the drawback that certain features of the Sites may not function properly without the aid of cookies.

This PRIVACY and COOKIES POLICY covers the use of cookies by the Company and does not cover the use of cookies by any third party websites including social media networking account providers like Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Google (e.g. Google+, YouTube, Blogger, etc.).  Instructions on how to opt out of receiving cookies are available in your web browser settings.

  1. Advertisements or Ads

Ads that appear on the Sites are delivered to users and visitors by advertising partners, who set cookies.  These cookies allow the ad server to recognize your computer each time they send you an online advertisement to compile information about you or others who use your computer.  This information allows ad networks to, among other things, deliver targeted advertisements that they believe will be of most interest to you.  This PRIVACY and COOKIES POLICY covers the use of cookies by the Company and does not cover the use of cookies by any advertisers.  For more information about Google Ads visit the Google Adsense Help page.

  • Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to the Sites.
  • The DoubleClick cookie is used by Google in the ads served on the websites of its partners, such as websites displaying AdSense ads or participating in Google certified ad networks.  When users visit a partner’s website and either view or click on an ad, a cookie may be dropped on that end user’s browser.
  • Google’s use of the DoubleClick cookie enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to a particular website and / or other websites on the Internet.
